Detainee letter

I have opportunity to elaborate concerning mandatory Curtin detention centre, is tremendous frustrate treatment by the incompetent security guards and ill management. Every staff have his own rules and regulation, which compel gullible detainees to follow their harsh random rules and regulations. Most of incompetent staff members just causing havoc in the system. All dupe detainees are under disgrace oppressive environments with uncertain future and indefinite time. The harsh system deliberately has been created by the management with immigration understanding to constrain detainees to accept persecution in their home country.

I illustrate you, for example:

1) One of disgrace harsh policy that you must have to put request form in box which takes months to respond in regard of any emergency matter. Which is easy way to get rid of these issues or matters.

2) Every nationality has elected their representative for attendance of detention consultative meeting between elected detainees and entire members of management. Consultative meeting usually conducts with interpreter service somewhere in administration area. But all representatives have been paid $28 a week just for shut up. Therefore all issues drafted and unresolved.

3) In regard of food, you have been given only one type of non-spicy food all the time. Any medical reason or any reason due religious sacrament by the different nationalities regarding your meals will not be considered. Which is one of complete disgraceful harsh policy.

4) An Iraqi Asylum seeker has been bashed to unconscious by the two security guards that were freaked out. In regard of this critical incident, detainee was transferred to incommunicado observation room after regaining consciousness. We are constantly harassed and abused and discriminated against and considered a beast of burden. If you react you will be sent to prison. It has been extremely traumatic for the detainees. Immigration and ACM takes deliberately step to conceal situation by covering our attention and cutting the phone lines to prevent media.

5) One of the Iranian asylum seeker has been blind in an incident which occurred in Curtin detention center about six months ago. After having no any medical treatment has been accused of being a pretender. He is still suffering with his blindness from six months and surviving to death with an anonymous period of time.

6) More than five hundreds detainees have access to one recreation room which is contain only one TV and one video player. It produce usually violence over change the channel. This inept policy has been clarified by the management to create violence among detainees, which produce work for unequipped mini dispensary with incompetent nurses and lacking funds.

7) My reading glasses have been lost by the deficiency of staff members and I have been told after having several times ill arguments developed that I will get my similar reading glasses as soon as possible. But delaying of two months the issue is still being unresolved. We all have to face indignity in regard of any issue. If you speak up you will be isolated for unknown period or be sent to prison.

8) You cannot put any special order to purchase any basic essential item with your own money. You can only buy a few items from shop. Only you can receive it by parcel.

People should be shocked by the inferior living conditions of infamous long-term detainees. Mental intimidation by the guards is terrifying. Racism is widespread. We got known as inhuman. Harsh environments are making asylum seekers anxious which put us at risk of suicide. Depressive disorders were identified by the inhuman treatment. Bad atmosphere is hugely frustrating to us and it has clarified as a second persecution in a country which claims to accept refugees. Asylum seekers have been demonised during the past year with claims of queue jumping and even accusations that we include terrorists among us. Because of the social disruption caused by the traumatic circumstances, refugees had to leave their country. Having escaped, survived more than one ocean voyage in a small boat and many face months of detention under intolerable worse conditions. No wonder we become depressed and frustrated and resort to violence!
