It was formed out of a collective desire for a space to focus talents, time and energy in a productive and meaningful way. The 'pod aims to serve the local creative community - in particular young people, students and the unemployed. Octapod has a physical space in the heart of Newcastle and it runs the Octa online server, and organises the annual TINA festival (www.thisisnotart.org)

MEDIUM
Medium is a non-profit organisation aimed at getting resources for artists and activists. We seek to promote art and activism as valid pursuits, and in this way support work which often falls outside the mainstream notion of acceptable employment. Medium is currently setting up a resource database which will be available to artists, activists and others who need free or discounted services and resources for their work. In addition, we recognise the need for greater communication between different sectors of society, and aim to facilitate a direct exchange of ideas and information between activists, artists and supporters.
