Dear fibreculturistes,

On behalf of Media International Australia and 
the Centre for Critical and Cultural Studies, 
Uni. of Qld, I wished to issue this correction 
regarding my earlier notice of this event (and a 
reminder too -- below!):

In our posting concerning the Henry Mayer Lecture 
Graeme Samuel is due to give this week we called 
it the Inaugural Henry Mayer Lecture because it 
is the first of an annual lecture series to be 
given by a prominent figure associated with the 
media and communication industries in Australia. 
The Henry Mayer Lecture is sponsored by the 
journal Henry co-founded and edited "Media 
International Australia" (MIA) and the Centre for 
Critical and Cultural Studies at the University 
of Queensland.

Strictly speaking as a number of our friends have 
pointed out, it is actually the 2nd Henry Mayer 
Lecture. The first lecture was delivered on the 
20th Anniversary of the Opening of Sydney Opera 
House, in 1993, and was sponsored by AFTRS and 
MIA. The speaker was the late Bruce Gyngell who 
was Executive Chairman of the Nine Network at the 
time.
