SARTRE COLLOQUIUM AND PERFORMANCE OF HUIS CLOS [NO EXIT or IN CAMERA]

2005 marks both the centenary of Jean-Paul Sartre’s birth and the twenty
fifth anniversary of his death.  To commemorate and celebrate this event,
a one day colloquium will be held at the University of Melbourne,
presented by the Department of French, Italian and Spanish Studies, the
Department of Philosophy and the Melbourne School of Continental
Philosophy.

Panels will focus on Sartre’s seminal contributions in existential
phenomenology, autobiography, politics and ethics.  Speakers include Prof.
Peter Cryle, Prof. Max Deutscher, Dr. Marguerite La Caze, Dr. Neil Levy,
Prof. Genevieve Lloyd, Dr. Marion Tapper, Dr. Sonia Wilson.

WHEN:  Friday, 7 October 2005, 9.30am – 4pm
WHERE:  Multi-Function Room, Graduate Centre, University of Melbourne –
Parkville Campus

Registration is free.

The colloquium will be followed by a performance of Sartre’s Huis Clos (in
French with
side-titles).  More information will be available shortly.
