HELP!!!

Drs. Frans Kapisa, Lecture of Social and Political Sciences at Cenderawasih University, West Papua is in House Arrest, Surrounded by the Indonesian Army

There is some serious stuff happening in Jayapra right now. Franz Kapissa a lecturer in Politics and Society at Cendrawasih University, is being held under house arrest, with his house surrounded by police and/or military (not sure which, as quick converstaion).

Also two students, Manfred Nah and Albert Krimadi are targets for kidnapping. People are worried that this could be the start of something. Apparently email is still down, and phone calls are being monitored and calls from Australia are being cut off in the middle.

Needs people to phone urgently to Police in Jayapura (and perhaps Abepura) and KomnasHAM. Sorry I don't have the telephone numbers now - Carmel or Paul do youhave numbers? Can you send have them around? I will get the numbers tomorrow my time and send around, if not. Please ring if you can, it's important that they know we know what's going on, and it may save peoples lives.

I've been told the best thing to say is "I'm ringing from ..., I want to speak to someone about the house arrest of Franz Kapissa and threats to kidnap Manfred Nah and Albert Krimadi".

When I have the telephone numbers, I'll send out an urgent call on wp@topica.com e-list.
================
Hallo,

Frans Kapisa, a lecture of the Political and Social Sciences at Cenderawasih University has been a strong supporter of independence movement, openly since his involvement in the Declaration of Independence by Dr. Thom W. Wainggai, 14 December 1988.

He was one of the key persons behind this event, has been arrested, tortured, intimidated many times. He has been the first target of arrest when anything happens in relation to independence movement.

He learnt English very hard, in order to be able to get Passport so that he could get out. He applied for scholarships in the Netherlands, he ran away to PNG, but all failed, because Indonesian intelligence people know him well, and his whereabouts all the time. I was his teacher for 1 year at pre-intermediate level.

In comparison to myself, he is braver I must admit, in facing such situations.

I am worried, he will be the next victim of the state-terrorist, then they will say, "It is a crime, not politically motivated, and not a serious crime!"

I pray that he will be strong, alive, and PLEASE DO RING the police and army commanders. This kind of step does help, from my personal experience.

Thank you for your help.

S. Karoba
