Letter from Adjamiseba to J. Barr for his report on 10 June 2002

Dear Rev. John Barr,

My name is Andy Ayamiseba, a West Papuan exile, living in Port Vila, Vanuatu. I thank you very much for the production of the report that tells the Sad Story of West Papua. Eventually this will happen to my beloved brothers and sisters back in Papua with the knowledge's of US, Australia and European countries government. I would like to propose that our regional churches establish a Task Force to save West Papua, and request all Government of the South Pacific, including Australia and New Zealand to take Immediate Action to correct the historical mistake committed by UN in 1969 (Act of Free Choice). This is the only way to avoid the Grand Plan of GENOCIDE of Papuans on our own soil, as a result of this UN misconduct.

For your information, the South Pacific Islands Forum meeting 2 (two) years ago in Kiribati, has passed a Resolution to demand for a Peaceful Settlement between Indonesia and Papua in solving their differences. This wasn't followed up last year in their meeting in Nauru, and Australia's PM John Howard while meeting Pres. Megawati in Jakarta has pressured the newly elected Government of Nauru to reject the attendance of a Papuan delegation, and allowed the Indonesians to attend the meeting as a Dialog Partner. "How could you accept the Indonesians a Dialog Partner and reject the subject of the dialog?" This year the SPIF meeting will be held in Suva, Fiji, in August and we are trying our best for the issue to be included in the agenda, sponsored by some countries in the region. Australia has lobbied against this and support strongly the Indonesians. Please write to the Secretary General of the SPIF, Mr. Noel Levi at the SPIF Headquarter in Suva, Fiji, to inform him about the latest situation in West Papua which is totally against the Resolution of SPIF in Kiribati. How could they continuously pretend to be BLIND and DEAF to the CRIES of their own brothers and sisters of West Papua?

I thank you again for the hard work and support you have committed against this INJUSTICE!

God Bless You,
Andy Ayamiseba
West Papuan Representative.
