Latest Development on Benny Wenda, 23 August 2002, Reply from AI to a Friend of Ours

Dear ...,

I spoke with Elsham this morning. Two of their people saw Benny on Monday and were not aware of any problems with his health. They said the conditions in Polda are actually rather better than they were a year ago > when Theys and other PDP were held there - apparently there has been some renovation. It would be good to check back with the Sem to see where the information is coming from - whether he can confirm it - whether he knows if Benny has been seen by a doctor - could he try and get a diagnosis from an independent medical professional?

According to the Kapolda, Benny's case is being processed and his dossier will be handed to the court shortly.

Best wishes

Lucia
