AIDC 2006 website is now up!

You can submit session proposals for the next conference online. AIDC
invites documentary makers to attend an open meeting in Melbourne next
month.

In February 2006, just before the Commonwealth Games, documentary makers
from around the globe will descend on Melbourne to flex their muscles at the
11th Australian International Documentary Conference. The 2006 conference
will be held from Monday 13 - Thursday 16 February so start your training
early!

AIDC is a must-attend event for anyone working in factual film and
television. Each year, AIDC celebrates a region of the world by welcoming an
international delegation from that region. AIDC Director Heather Croall is
delighted to announce that in 2006, AIDC will host a UK Delegation of
commissioning editors, directors and producers from all nations and regions
of the UK.

Ms Croall said "The international delegation this year will be made up of
documentary people from all the Nations and Regions in the UK. The
delegation will potentially stimulate many co-productions between Australia
and the UK in the years to come. Commissioners from the BBC, Channel 4, BBC
Scotland, five, Sky One and others will be included in the UK delegation. We
will also focus on the exciting work being done in cross platform
documentary work in the UK - with speakers coming from interactive and
digital TV as well as the new broadband channels."

Visit the new look website for the latest news on featured guests and
program strands. Registrations open October: <http://www.aidc.com.au/>

Dear ASPERA and Ozdox Organising Committee,

Both ASPERA and Ozdox want to see more involvement of academics and
academics who are documentary makers at this next AIDC in Melbourne. We
think this would guarantee a more critical focus for the conference. I think
the best way at present (since we lack an academic rep on the AIDC
organising committee) is for us as groups and individuals to suggest panels,
workshops and papers to the conference convenor that are so riveting and
valuable that the AIDC decides to program them. Lets start thinking and
suggesting contributions. Please pass this email on to any of your
documentary colleagues who may be interested in being on panels or
suggesting panels or workshops.
