[tof] Self Distribution Kit for doco-makers

Dear all
 
I've often wondered about the film funding bodies' insistence that a "proper credit" involves the distribution of a documentary on TV or a "recognisable" film festival or a cinema release. What of the DVD release? What of the popular "alternative" documentary that has a cult like following? what of...what if...
 
The possibilities are increasing, as Gil has outlined.
 
I would be interested to read different views on this issue as it involves many people's ability to continue putting food on the table.

now, "why not do it yourslf?" and then spent hours on the phone explaining 
what's involved. John, the next doco conference should definately cover it.

launch, season, dvd then TV model into a computer-based, web-based, 
home-based model, more along the lines of Robert Greenwald's efforts in the
