DIRECTOR OF ELS-HAM PAPUA, YOHANES BONAY RECEIVED TELEPHONES, THREATENED TO BE KILLED

Director of the Lembaga Studi dan Advokasi Hak Asasi Manusia (ELS-HAM) West Papua, Yohanes G. Bonay, SH (39) in two days (18-19 July) received calls from unknown persons. He was threatened to be killed. 

Wednesday (7/18) at 12.45am he received telephone at ELSHAM by someone with a Javanese accent threateneed him by saying, "Mr. Bonay, you listen carefully, your age will not be long!" By giving not a second at all to reply, the caller closed his phone. Terror and threat also received by other staff members. 

Some days later, Mr. Bonay's wide, Elsye (40) came to the ELS-HAM office with the same report at the same time 12. 45am she received the same call. She reported the caller identified himself as Marthen and asked where Mr. Bonay was. She told him that Mr. Bonay is at the ELS-HAM office, so please call him there. In fact Marthen does not know the number, so he asked Elsye the number. Some minutes later, he phoned again to Elsye and said, with the same voice and but rudely, said "Tell Mr. Bonay, is he looking for die?" Then the voice continued, "Sooner or later, Mr. Bonay must die!" 

According to Yohanis Bonay, since ELS-HAM Papua sent special report on the kidnapping of Huberthus Wresman (26) a youth from Takar village of Betaf sub-district, after receiving complains from his parents to ELSHAM and Papua Crhistian Church (DKI) Papua, then the report sent to Indonesian National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM) in Jakarta.
