We Present Events and Articles before and after 1 December 2000: The Time when the Papuans are Planning to Declare Independence!!!

Papuans are determined to declare independence on 1 December 2000, but Indonesia is saying, "Indonesia is definitely going to crack down the supporters of the Free Papua Movement - OPM, if possible with repressive measures. No compromise whatsoever!" Islamic Jihad Troops, thousands of Police and army personnel, including the Special Forces (Kopassus) have been deployed since the last 2 years. Indonesia has recruited militia groups in two : One is called the Red-and-White Satgas (Satgas Merah Putih) who are all Papuans, pro Indonesia's occupation. Second, non-Papuan-militia groups, are equipped with arms and grenades supplied by Indonesia. These two groups are  trained by the Indonesian intelligence personnel.

  12. On 17 November 2000, another meeting was held to form the Committee for West Papua Independence. "Will they announce a Provisional Government for West Papua this day?" is our question, but sure. The source we asked is not willing to convey.  Many questions are difficult to answer, even more difficult to guess. "What will happen to the PDP?" "Where are the PDP members going?" "Who are the people and from which groups are they?" "What will be the actual event: declaring independence and announcing the government? or pushing more pressure to Indonesia to response democratically and persuasively?" "Who is behind all these moves: Papuans? Foreigners? Indonesians?"

  17. The Papua Presidium Council (PDP) prepares to lowering down the Morning Star Flag. According to an accord between Papua Acting Governor and the PDP on 9 November 2000, Papuan Flag will be taken down in a Prayer Service in front of the Satgas Papua Office on 1 December 2000. Then the PDP announced that the Flag will be hoisted throughout Papua, one flag one regency (14 regencies) in the houses of Tribal Leaders. Indonesia is allowing only 5 regencies to hoist the Flag, but PDP says "No, in all regencies!" This kind of disagreement will lead to a bloodbath of innocent civilians, mainly  women and children.
